Getting back to nature and small town America on a recent trip to the Kern River Valley and Lake Isabella . Although we were on the southern end of the Sequoia National Forest, the Kern River was all I had hoped it would be. White water rafting next summer?

Shots of the Kern River, Kern County Airport, Lake Isabella and the French Gultch Marina might make you want to take this trip. The town of Kernville is quaint and quiet, at least off-season during the week. But activities abound on the week-end.
